The Guesthouse
The guesthouse can be rented by individuals, couples, families or groups up to 5. Please note this is a no-smoking property, both inside and out. Please leave your pets at home where they will be more comfortable. Should you be in need of puppy lovin's our three will be happy to substitute for your fur babies during your stay. Rates are based on double occupancy. Mid-week stays Monday thru Thursday are $95/night, and Fridays thru Sunday are $110/night. Holiday rates may be higher.
OPTIONS:
Continental Breakfast Basket. A basket can be delivered to you each morning or the night before at your request an additional fee. The basket will include large muffins, fresh fruit, juice, jelly/butter and a selection of coffee and/or tea to start your day. Please request this when booking your reservation and also mention any food sensitivities or dietary guidelines. We will accommodate whenever possible. $13.00 per day for two guests each day ($26 for the weekend) plus tax.

The Chalet
The chalet is a perfect place to host a small, intimate ceremony! Elopements, weddings with less than 25 guests, baptisms, vow renewals, commitment ceremonies and more can be held in front of the 22 foot tall river rock fireplace inside. Get married on the Chalet's wrap-around deck like Romeo & Juliet with your guests seated down below and invite more guests to witness your love story take the next step. Or tie the knot or renew your vows lakeside at the boat landing across the road. Always imagined a Bohemian style wedding under a canopy of trees or in a golden tamarack marshland? You'll find those options here as well. In 2019 we will be adding an outdoor garden setting complete with arbor and waterfall. Onsite ministry, photography and keyboardist services are available. Outside professionals are welcome. Please contact us to discuss your dreams and how we can make them come true! Simple elopement packages including officiant and photography services start at just $950.
Photos Virtually Anywhere on the Property
Basswood Chalet & Guesthouse is located on 10 acres across the road from Lower Long Lake, on the north side. Our property contains a wide variety of trees, meaning a rich background for photo sessions for seniors, engagement photos and other pictures. You'll find basswood (of course), white birch, sugar maples, tamaracks and more. The lake is glacially-formed, meaning it is a clearer lake with fewer weeds and a sandy bottom that helps reflect the blue sky easily. Be very quiet and maybe the deer, turkeys or other wildlife may join you!
Policies and Procedures
- Please, no smoking or underage drinking on the premises.
- All guesthouse reservations are based upon two person occupancy. No discount is given for single occupancy. An additional 3 occupants can be accommodated at a rate of $25 extra per person per night.
- A two night minimum stay is required in the guesthouse from May 1st through October 31st.
- No children under the age of 12, and children must be accompanied at all times.
- If requesting the optional continental breakfast basket and you have special dietary requirements, please let us know upon making your reservation. We will accommodate whenever possible and will let you know if we will not be able to do so ahead of time.
- A 50% deposit and credit card are needed to hold all reservations. Reservations booked directly and cancelled up to one week in advance will be refunded. Air BnB, VRBO and Trip Advisor have their own cancellation policies and we follow them when your reservation has been booked through them.
- You are responsible for any damage or missing items and they will be billed to your credit card.
- Sorry, no guest pets are allowed. Please bring certification papers and vaccination records for any service pet you may wish to have accompany you and prior notification of a service pet is required for the safety of all animals on the property. If you love dogs, we are happy to share ours with you! Tucker, Tucson and Lilly are always in need of ear scratches, pets and tummy rubs and live with us in the Chalet.
- No candles other than LED flameless are allowed in either building, especially inside the chalet where the walls are made from real wooden logs and wood paneling. We provide high-quality, battery-operated candles in the guesthouse for your enjoyment.
- Since we are located in the woods, we do not allow charcoal grills, portable fire rings, etc. We have a gas grill you can use upon request and are welcome to bring firewood and use the fire pit in the courtyard.
- Please note that Basswood Chalet and Guesthouse is not handicap accessible at this time. Sorry!
