Nestled in the woods across from Lower Long Lake is a small, private retreat teeming with wildlife, solitude and the ability to get away from daily life to renew, pamper yourself or perhaps get married!

Basswood Chalet & Guesthouse is owned privately by Dave & Rev. Ronnie Roll.  Together they've created a safe haven for couples and individuals to get away, renew themselves and their relationships and be pampered with all Mother Nature has to offer and services not found at other private, small getaways.

Basswood Chalet

Built in 2006 as a private residence, Dave & Ronnie Roll have adapted this home to become an intimate venue for smaller weddings, elopements, vow commitments, baptisms, etc.  There are sites inside the chalet as well as on the balcony and in the forest that accommodate guest lists of varying sizes.   
Relationships are important to us here at Basswood Chalet & Guesthouse, whether they're your relationship with yourself, a partner, girlfriends or the environment.  We are available to help you strengthen those bonds in a myriad of ways.
  • Get married here!  Our Chalet is available for intimate, meaningful ceremonies around the fireplace or on the balcony.  We also have locations in the trees and courtyard that make beautiful sites as well.
  • Stay in the guesthouse and reconnect with your partner.  Sometimes it just takes a little alone-time, quality time to reconnect.  Upgrade your stay with a Celebration package, massages while staying in the guesthouse, and having continental breakfast delivered to you each morning or the night before, or any combination of these to customize your stay here.
  • Need to have difficult discussions?  Rev. Ronnie holds a graduate level certification in Dispute Resolution through Mitchell-Hamline Law School's Dispute Resolution Institute.
  • Would you marry your partner all over again?  Why not do it here?  We can host and perform your vow renewal ceremony, and photograph or video record it for you or family and friends to enjoy at a later time.
  • Need to get away to recharge your batteries?  Our guesthouse is fully equipped with a complete kitchen, lots of privacy, high speed internet and a super-cozy bed to catch up on that sleep you've been missing.  A licensed mobile massage therapist is happy to drop by to give you a massage if you'd like too.

The Basswood Guesthouse in New Auburn, Wisconsin.

Located on the north side of Lower Long Lake in the Blue Diamond Vacation Area.

The guesthouse can be rented for all sorts of uses!  Enjoy early mornings in your bathrobe while sipping coffee and listening to the loons on your private deck, or watch the woodland trails for deer in the evening and talk to the owls. The guesthouse makes a fabulous writer's retreat too, a bridal, honeymoon or anniversary suite, vacationer's cabin, a jumping off point for hikers, anglers, snowmobilers or ATV riders, or just a private getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The road is not a busy one, so long walks are easy-breezy.  Whatever your reason, we are here to assure you have a pleasant and memorable stay.   There's room to park your vehicle and trailer here too, and the boat landing is within a very, very short walking distance.  The lake was glacially formed, so the water is crystal clear with no yucky muck bottom.

Basswood Guesthouse

The Basswood Guesthouse is nestled in the trees, offering lots of privacy and solitude.  It's rustic feel with modern conveniences helps you relax into your time away from home, without the usual discomfort of lesser cabins.  You'll enjoy: 
  • Queen-size bed with linens, blankets and pillows provided
  • Full kitchen with all utensils needed to prepare your own meals including a full-size refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, dishwasher, pots and pans, bowls, plates, silverware and glasses
  • Indoor bathroom with enclosed shower, medicine cabinet, toilet and sink.  Bath linens included
  • High speed wi-fi internet connection 
  • In-floor heat keeps you toasty on fall or winter nights
  • Ceiling fans and window air conditioners as needed
  • Electric fireplace for ambiance and a little extra coziness on cooler evenings​
  • Private deck with enclosed gazebo
  • Games, cards and television for the occasional indoor day
  • Roll-away twin bed is available upon request 
  • Continental breakfast basket of muffins, jellies, fruit and juice is available  for an additional fee
  • A bridal/anniversary suite package is available upon request, including special linens and decorations in the guesthouse, also available for an additional fee
